Bellingham Square by John 'Beaver' Buckley
Bellingham Square by John 'Beaver' Buckley
The author of this book happens to be my dad, so it's safe to say I may be slightly biased. But I'm also incredibly proud to call myself the daughter of a Chelsea street kid. His tale is at times rough, but more often than not, delightful - especially to those who were familiar with the characters he meets along the way in Bellingham Square. You just might catch your own name, or even the name of a friend or two, intertwined in the story of this charming and accomplished man of his time, whose teenage years were some mix of a coin toss (and it usually involved a football or basketball). As he was fond of reminding his kids, "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood..." - (although I could have sworn there was only one tree in Chelsea?) - thankfully, for myself and my brothers, he chose the road less traveled and for that, we will always be grateful.
